Britney Spears wounded by alligator at Flagler College

International pop phenomenon Britney Spears was wounded during a visit at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla. this morning.

According to St. Augustine Police Chief Bubba O'Conner, campus security guard Hector Gonzalez spotted Spears at 5 a.m. She was laying near the bushes in front of the male dorm Lewis House and bleeding from her right foot. Spears exclaimed to Gonzalez, "Oh my God, oh my God! An alligator bit me!"

Gonzalez saw the tail of a reptile diappear in to the bushes, estimating the alligator was around 9 feet long. He called 911 at 5:10 a.m., and the paramedics treated Spears for minor bite wounds.

Animal control officers arrived at 6 a.m. and were unable to locate the reptile. Gonzalez thinks the alligator may have escaped from the Alligator Farm, which is less than two miles from the college campus.

Spears was said to be visiting a male friend at the college.
